Final Project
I feel like i didn't have as many references here as i did last time. But for my comic i would like to how some references. i took some of what penny arcade did, with the shapes, and kept in mind the silhouette. I also took what clerks did in their cartoon and made the outer line thicker, but I'm not sure if that's what i plan to do in the future.
I have also noticed that I'm very bad at not shading. I feel like it gives the color more, but I also like the flat color. If my comic continues to grow i might change the coloring situation. So i will have it flat color and maybe bolder lines. It's difficult to find my own style, and keep it constant.

The Bird
For this I kind of wanted the cliffs to seem like they were taller than anywhere else in this "world". I used some pictures of cliffs as a reference, but i couldn't quite get the texture, even so I felt like having too much texture would ruin the concept of my creations. It's supposed to be semi-flat, but i'd like some depth to go along with it. I also looked at some mountains which are usually lighter as they begin to look farther away.

Story Board (Big Bad Wolf)
Story Board ( Movie )
I decided to go with Ghost World. I've watched this movie about 15 times so far, but have never actually read the comic. I liked this scene because of the place they were in, and because i felt like this was one of the few times the two characters seem to have something in common, or have a friend-characteristic.

Reflective Essay #1
Silhouettes
During this assignment I feel like I have really realized how much importance a silhouette is. I used to just see them as what they were, and that was the silhouette of an image or object. I didn't think that they were that key to what a picture has to offer. But since I have done this project I feel like silhouettes are very important for creating an icon or to capture a character. Looking at characters like Micky Mouse and Goofy, they are both simple and recreations of different animals. These two characters are universally known. And if you have a strong silhouette I feel like you will have a stronger connection with viewers.
The characters that I have started sketching out are sort of simple, and need more emphasis. The silhouette assignment has helped me, and lead me to discover what I need to do in my character creation process. When I did these silhouettes I wanted my characters to be able to be noticed without need of seeing facial features or other details. When I was creating the silhouettes of animals and other creatures it felt like it was easier to make them more unique than human-like characters.
I enjoyed this exercise and hope to do more like it. In the long run it will help with my creations and the process that I do when drawing. It's another thing that will be in the back of my mind to help.

Web Comic
After a semester of talking about creating a webcomic my friend and I are finally trying to start it up. We've uploaded one comic already though it's kind of sketchy. He provides the storyboard and dialogue.
